Frequently asked questions
Direct answers to the questions patients ask most. Can’t find yours? Contact the office.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. NexDerm accepts Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Oscar, and UnitedHealthcare, subject to plan participation and eligibility verification. Coverage depends on the visit, diagnosis, treatment, and your individual plan; Medicaid plans are not accepted. Never hesitate to ask the office to help confirm benefits.
Is Lauren a dermatologist?
Lauren Riley is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner and dermatology provider (not a physician) with more than a decade of experience in medical and aesthetic dermatology and thirteen years in medicine. She evaluates, diagnoses, and treats skin conditions, performs in-office procedures, and refers to physician specialists, such as Mohs surgeons, when specialty care is required.
How do I book an appointment?
Book online through Klara, NexDerm’s secure patient platform (it takes about a minute and no account is needed), or call or text (732) 838-3376. Start here.
What should I expect at my first visit?
A focused visit with time to cover your history and goals. Intake forms arrive digitally through Klara beforehand, so the appointment is spent on care. Medical and aesthetic concerns can be addressed in the same conversation. See what to expect.
Do aesthetic consultations cost anything?
Pricing and any consultation fees are discussed when you book. Aesthetic treatments are not covered by insurance, and because plans are personalized, costs are reviewed openly at your consultation. You’ll always know the price of a recommended plan before deciding.
Can medical and aesthetic concerns be handled in one visit?
Often, yes. One provider sees you for both, so a mole check and a conversation about skin quality don’t need separate appointments. Billing for the medical and aesthetic parts of a visit is handled separately and explained clearly.
Do you see children?
Yes. Pediatric dermatology (eczema, warts, rashes, and moles) is part of the practice, and families are welcome to be seen together.
Do you offer telehealth?
Teledermatology may be appropriate for certain concerns and follow-ups. The office will advise when a condition needs to be seen in person.
¿Se habla español?
Lauren is conversationally functional in Spanish.
